Things Not to Do

In case you were wondering, here's a list of things you can't do or else you wake the children.

If Happy and/or Demand are sleeping you cannot....

open the garage door
open or close the dryer
start the wash/dryer
turn the shower off/on
flush the upstairs toilet
clean the kitchen
clean the playroom

If Pax is sleeping you cannot....

go in our room for any reason
lay your head on a pillow
open the front door
have the TV above the volume level 20
play in the playroom

And let's not talk about door bells. Who in the world uses a door bell anymore?!

So in case you're wondering as far as activities for when after the children are asleep we are reduced to watching tv (quietly) eating and drinking (provided not too much noise is made preparing) doing things on the internet, and reading. That's it! Heaven forbid we try and clean something.

Grrr!

Lazywife, I understand your frustration! Now you know why I've been so uptight about naps for the past 6 years! I won't go into all the trials I went through with Max as a baby just so he would go to sleep.
For us, things are more laid back now as not everyone needs a nap anymore (well, except for me, maybe.)But when Anna is sleeping, no doing dishes (too many clinks)no bouncing or running around the house as this house is like a drum. Definitely no vacuuming but that isn't a big deal. Preferably no visitors or doorbells during naptime, but that seems to be the time that people stop by to sell something.
It will get easier once you're in a house-you won't feel like you have to tip toe around everybody!

don't have more children, ok?

Ironically Becky, we can run the vacuum. But I agree about deliveries. UPS, garbage & recycling, and landscape crew all come at naptime.

Do you have a noise machine or fan in their room? Helps drown out the rest of the noise. I guess it's a good excuse to rest yourself though, huh? I put a sign on the door at naptime: "Babies are sleeping. Please do not ring bell. Call ***-***-****. It's worked great.
