Cramming

A quick update.

After a rather unpleasant experience with USPS I finally relieved my last bit of curriculum (or so I say.) So I was able to finish planning our first month of homeschooling. I decided to only do one month at a time, at least for now so I can get a grasp for how fast or slow we are moving in all the areas. Next I'm doing some final tweeking on our daily schedule. I'm trying to be realistic and flexible so that we are more likely to stick to the plan. Here's a rough lay out

5:30-7:00am- I need to get up shower, dress, pray and start some morning chores. (laundry/dishwasher) I'm sure I'll squeeze a cup of coffee and some internet time in if not a nursing session.

7-8:30am- I let the kids out of their rooms, breakfast, dressed, brush teeth, make beds and have a morning meeting. I'm trying to grasp the idea of having a meeting with a 5 year old and 2 year old but I can see where setting the expectations for the day would be helpful. For some reason though I just picture Happy and Demand and I gathered around a board room table with legal pads and business suits. Weird.

8:30am-9:30am- This will be our morning block of school work M-Th. We'll do music, poetry, and reading. These are all things that we can do with Happy and/or Pax around, and even participate.

9:30-11 - Pax' morning nap, playtime for the kids and chores for me and Demand.

11-12pm- make and eat lunch

12-1:30pm-freetime for playing, cleaning or running errands.

1:30-??? Naptime for the boys this could be as late at 5pm for Happy. Quiet time for me and Demand.

2:30 While the boys nap Demand and I will work on math, writing, science and sometimes art.

3:30-more freetime for chores, etc. before making dinner.

Like I said it's a rough schedule. I'm not going to be blowing a whistle at 8:30am everyday to start class. The Sloths like to stay flexible.

On a different topic Mr. Sloth and got some much needed work done this weekend. The garage is coming along since he finished building his second work bench on Saturday. I'm gathering items to sell a friends garage sale and I was able to find time to spray paint Demands headboard and lamp. they turned out gorgeous! I'll show you when I'm all done. I have to head to Dollar Tree for some flowers to finish the lamp.

In the world of couponing I had a really exciting day. I got my first overage at Walmart. I was not only able to buy formula for free but I MADE $1.50 to use towards the rest of my purchase. I was so excited. Then I saved 54% at the grocery store picking up some last minute items. I spent $20 and saved $24 and to put it into perspective I bought $24 worth of chicken but I had $11 worth of coupons for chicken that I was able to use in addition to some other great coupons for the rest of my stuff.

Tonight's plans are to head out to two (possibly three) stores, make a few dishes for my Norwex party tomorrow night, meal plan for the week and start to work on my grocery/coupon list for the big shopping trip on Wednesday morning. Demands has a 5:15pm swim class. For her class the kids and I head to the gym around 4:30pm where I drop them off at childcare (which they love) then I go work out a bit before picking up Demand for her class. I have to sit with her for the class at this age, which I fine, I can get some book club reading done without little hands shoving a pop-up book in my face saying "read it" or worse eating my book.

Swim class means we won't be eating dinner until 6pm (Thankfully Mr. Sloth can cook:grilled marinated chicken, sweet potato fries and left over Asian coleslaw from yesterday) which will bedtime back a bit so I probably won't start my plans for the evening until 8/8:30pm epecially if I put Pax to bed and clean the kitchen.

If you think I have too much planned for one night you are probably correct. No wonder I don't get to bed at a decent hour! Off to fold four loads of laundry, I hope my super hero cap is clean....
