Sorry I've been MIA. It was an interesting week to say the least.
First, to make a long story short, around Monday at noon I discovered and abscess on the boy's rectum. *sigh* I knew this meant the doctors. Our doctor called and out of two options suggested we just take him to the ER and have it lanced to get it over with. Well that is not exactly what happened. Again, long story short...someone dropped the ball at the Children's Hospital and instead of just lancing it they admitted him for the night tortured him with IVs and no eating after 5am only for us to be told by the surgeon at noon that he wouldn't need surgery and that he could do the procedure right then and it should have been done in the ER.
We were not please.
Even after we thought it was over we were being pushed to stay the night again. We pushed back and wanted out. I was going crazy as it was. I had spent 18 of the last 24 hours by myself in a small room with a screaming baby whom I couldn't nurse.
By the way, the procedure itself took all of two seconds and there was very little crying, as opposed to the twenty four previous hours.
There is an upside. I appreciate the fact that we don't deal with medical issues like this on a regular basis as many parents do and of our two children I imagine it was easier doing it with the boy as opposed to Demand. While we can't really communicate with the boy, Demand can communicate with us and hearing "all done" would have broken my heart. Plus, the boy isn't as attached to nursing as Demand was. Telling her we couldn't nurse after 5am would have just been awful.
Again, that was the short story. The boy is home now, doing fantastic. (He was doing fantastic all along minus the pains imposed on him at the hospital.)
That was our Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week was basically us just getting back on track and into our normal routines. Demand has been working hard again on using the potty. All her idea too! I've started into more of the purging we've been dreaming of. Today I threw away a bunch of magazines and old medicines and tossed a few more clothes into the donation back. I also spent some time in the pantry reorganizing and tossing at will.
I love springtime!

kuyThat would make me so angry! Seriously, sometimes doctors/nurses do not think of what it is like to be kept without food for hours on end and then just to be told there is no surgery. I don't blame you guys for being mad--good for you for getting out!
That's just...I don't even have words! I would definitely be repressing those memories if I were you.
Glad to know he is feeling better, we have been thinking of you guys when we heard. Sounds like other than that you are all adjusting beautifully!!
Can you guys five us an update? How's it going???
