Today is our 6th Wedding Anniversary. We had planned on going out tonight but since we didn't know how Happy's surgery was going to go we tried to go earlier. We didn't go on Wednesday as planned because Tuesday had been a bad night with Happy and everyone was exhausted. So some day soon we shall go out as planned. We intend to go to "Melting Pot", a fondue restaurant. Our friends went there for their anniversary in June and loved it. I can't wait!! While tonight seems like an ordinary Saturday it's actually been pretty nice. While getting my organizing fix on earlier today I stumbled across some old "love letters" and decided to open the infamous 'wedding trunk' which now serves as our living room coffee table. (Let's be honest, beer table.) It was a good idea indeed as it brought back some great memories and I think Mr. Sloth might have enjoyed it as well. (Very rare)
In the words of Obscure, "God smited our children" because they both napped for a long time today. What a great anniversary gift! In fact Demand is still sleeping.
We rarely exchange material gifts, but we had some quality time alone together which was fantastic. Best gift of all, actually.
Happy is doing fantastic after his surgery. A thousand times better than expected. In fact, it's the best case senario, he's better than he was before his surgery. He didn't complain once about the required fast, in fact he charmed the pants off of everyone. The surgery was very quick, and aside from a little anticipated crankiness as the anesthesia wore off, he was back to normal. The surgeon had first told me his 'wound' would look like a granade went off near his bottom, then after discovering his fistula was much deeper and much larger than expected told me it would look like a mortar went off near his bottom. So I held my breath as I opened his diaper for the first time to discover that it actually looked better than before. Can you imagine having a surgeon slice open your nether region and have it be an aesthetically improvement? And not only does the incision not bother him, but it's helped him feel better already. Whether or not you want to know this, I had long wondered if his difficulty in passing gas was related to the unfortunate location of his abscesses. Well this kid has had no problems passing gas since the surgery. AND this morning went to the bathroom all on his own which he hadn't done in weeks.
We are more than happy with how things turned out.
Demand is doing well. While I rummaged through my wedding trunk today she scored a few new toys; the veils given to me at my bachlorette party and a spare Barbie dress (there used to be a wedding day Barbie in the trunk), so she was pretty happy.
I should leave it at that before I get distracted.
