Happy's big week just got bigger. While at my inlaws for dinner this evening Mr. Sloth discovered that Happy cut a tooth!! An hour earlier I had mentioned how odd it was to have a crawling/standing baby with no teeth, but Mr. Sloth did point out it helped with all the falls. The crazy part is, his tooth isn't anywhere near where we thought it was going to be. He's been chewing on his left side since he could hold an object and his first tooth is front, right and center. Pretty exciting, huh? He also was trying to cruise some furniture today but that's more scary than exciting.
Demand has been having a good week as well. I started a sticker/chore chart. I had been wanting to do it for a while now but Demand didn't take well to potty training with stickers so I dropped the idea. One day I just sat down at her table with her new paper and pens and drew up a chart. I decided to try my best at drawing pictures to illustrate chores instead of avoiding the chart due to my lack of artistic ability. (Somehow the artistic gene completely passed by me, everyone else in my family can draw.)
Well Demand LOVES her chart. She checks it multiple times a day to make sure she's doing everything. And (here's the best part) she's even starting to nap more because of it. She desperately wants all of the stickers she can get napping is one of her chores. Plus if she gets all of her stickers for one day she gets a special prize. The first time she did it she got a quarter for her "princess" piggy bank. She loves getting money for her piggy bank. The second time I let her have a piece of candy.
If you're wondering, her chores are make your bed, brush your teeth (morning), clear your plate (breakfast/lunch/dinner), help with laundry, brush your teeth (evening), and nap. Most are self explanatory but clearing your plate means taking your plate/silverware/glass to the counter after a meal. Helping with laundry means a number of things; helping me switch loads, taking clothes to her room, or taking dirty clothes to the laundry room. If she does at least one she gets a sticker. Napping she needs to sleep. I will give her a sticker for staying in her bed though even if she doesn't sleep but she can't watch TV. Usually she has no privileges if she doesn't nap. No snacks, no TV and early to bed.
Just a little more insight to the workings of the Sloth family these past few weeks.
