Today Happy is six months old. Crazy, huh? Want to know something crazier? He crawled OFFICIALLY for the first time today. We knew it was coming but, wow, six months???
He's been crawling in the tub for a few days and making some crawling movements on the floor but today was the day. Obscure and Sidekick were over briefly killing time before leaving on a camping trip this afternoon. You could tell that Happy was capable of doing it, he just needed the motivation. I convinced Sidekick to put his iphone on the floor to tempt Happy but just as he did Happy looked away and Sidekick wisely changed his mind about letting a six month old near his phone.
As soon as they left I put my phone on the floor and not only did Happy crawl, he dashed across the living room to get it. I mean this was an alligator like movement. Mr. Sloth knew that Happy had a surprise for him when he got home. I handed Happy over to Mr. Sloth and then set the computer on the floor. (This confused Mr. Sloth greatly) I then grabbed the video camera and told Mr. Sloth to put him on the floor. Before I could even press record he had dashed across the floor and started playing with the computer. Mr. Sloth was impressed and surprised (and that's hard to do).
In addition to crawling he also pinned his sister today which was pretty funny. She has no idea what he's going to do to her in the near future.
Here's a great Demand story for you. (Sorry future Demand this is embarrassing)
Two days ago I spontaneously decided to take the kids to the park. It was a nice day, sunny but not too hot. We were at the park for about 10 minutes when Demand declared she had to go potty and her dance indicated immediately. I had no choice. The park is secluded and no one else was there. Demand got her first outdoor lesson. In fact, so did I. I brought her behind a tree, took off her underwear and shorts and told her to squat. She surprisingly obliged and proceeded to pee down the hill. I think she thought it was fun.
Around 4:30pm I was at my "done" point with the kids so I headed outside with a blanket and the kids for some yard time and waited for Mr. Sloth to pull in the driveway. I was laying on my side resting and simultaneously playing with Happy and Demand was landscaping with her scissors. At one point I rolled over and there at the base of the hill was Demand, completely pantless, peeing on the lawn.
Laughing out loud I grabbed her clothes and swept her into the house. As I helped her dress I tried to explain that peeing in the grass was only something to be done in emergencies. I think she was so excited at the playground because she learned a way to stay dry and still have fun.
Priceless.
