Week Update

Monday I wrote about the busy week ahead and how a field trip to the Capitol didn't go quite as planned but I didn't get to finish the story.

When Monday started I knew it wasn't going to go well so I made, er, asked God to throw as much grace as his loving hands could gather, my way. I was so exhausted after the "Capitol Incident" I had no idea how I was going to be able to get the house cleaned and shop for my party the next day. Turns out, God had a plan. Happy refused to nap unless he was nursing so while Demand was 'napping' I laid down in bed with Happy. I heard Demand get up at some point and waited for her to come in and wake both of us but it never happened. I woke up at 4:30pm!!!! I woke Happy up and went to find Demand. She was happily playing in her room. No mischief, no potty accidents, no helping herself to the candy jar, it was fantastic!! That gave me the energy I needed to get through the day!

We had leftover pizza and then I quickly ran to the store, helped put the kids to bed and then after Mr. Sloth went back to work, I cleaned the whole downstairs. It was lovely!

Moral of the story God provides if we demand, er, ask.

The rest of the week went as follows.

Tues: Demand finally got to start learning to read. The lessons were so easy we did three the first day! I spent the rest of the day cleaning and maintaining. Mr. Sloth took Demand to her Good Shepard class and picked her up so that bought me some time. Happy continues to throw us a curve ball by being a difficult napper this week. My party went well, although only three women were able to make it, but as I told someone who couldn't make it, my house got clean that's all that matters!

Wednesday: By 2:30pm Happy had only napped for 35 minutes for the entire day. There was no way we could drop him off at a friends house with only 35 minutes of sleep and need him up past his regular bedtime. So I got the car from Mr. Sloth and took both children for a drive. Demand fell asleep after a half and hour, but Happy was resilient. Finally though he got enough rest, but since I didn't have free time during "naptime" I couldn't get all my CCD planned or my Bible Study done. It all worked out in the end.

I was surprisingly prudent Wednesday night and after I stuffed my face with wild wings and southwestern dippers making myself nauseous, I rolled myself upstairs to the bedroom in order to finish my Bible Study. I was leading small group this week so I had to get it done.

Thursday: Family woke up around 8am. Mr. Sloth got ready and went to work for an hour while the kids and I got ready to go. Knowing it was ridiculously cold today I played the roll of responsible mother and bundled everyone up including myself. Bible Study was awesome as usual. Since it's over two and a half hours the kids are worn out. I don't know what Demand did but Happy played with a lot of kids just his size for two hours without a morning nap. (He also filled two diapers, ate a banana and drank one and half sippy cups of juice/water) So Happy fell asleep on the way home and went straight to his crib. I had a nice suprise to my day when one my friends/neighbors/Bible Study women volunteered to come over and watch the kids while I got my shot this afternoon. It's such a drag to bundle up the kids, load them in the car, drive a half an hour for a five minute injection, twice a week! Sometimes Mr. Sloth will stay home while nap but he really can't afford the time away from work so this was a great blessing for both all of us!

So that was our week. No real plans for tomorrow which is great. Maybe if I'm brave I take the kids to the library, Demand learning to read and all.
