Due to the massive amounts of snow that just keep coming and staying here we've had what we call "Snow Mountain" in our front yard since early December. Since we are at the end of a finger street and have our roads and driveways plowed by the same people all the snow ends up in our yard. And since it has snowed so much we have many mountains which I've recently termed the Alps.
Since it's been "warm" out the last few days Demand went out for a while today. She's aloud to go out on her own as she doesn't venture far and can't move very fast as it is. I stay near by of course for a few reason but she never lasts long outside anyway. So she was outside around noon today and then came inside. About an hour later I heard the garbage trucks and then it dawned on me that they were hanging around for a while. I looked to find it was not longer a garbage truck but a bobcat truck starting to move snow. At first I thought he was going to remove it but then I realized he was just spreading it about. Then out of now where came the industrial highway sized snow blower. They totally destroyed Snow Mountain and then using the industrial snow blower shot snow thirty feet up the hill. Now don't get me wrong the kids and I had a blast watching but all I could think of was that Demand could have easily been playing withing the valleys of the snowy mountain range. It still scares me to think of it. That machine did not look toddler friendly in the slightest! Demand wanted them to go away at first since she loved her mountain but she ended up enjoying the shooting snow and since they just relocated the snow she was ok with it.
Today was Ash Wednesday. I've managed to be pregnant or nursing for four years now so I'm technically exempt from fasting yet again but since I've been doing this for four years now I make up my own. I mostly just eat when I'm actually hungry and not just eating because I feel like or because I can. I also try and stay away from junk food and of course no meat. I've given up internet during the day as Facebook owns my soul right now. So since I wasn't online all day I got the house nearly spotless it helped that the kids were pretty well self entertained until the afternoon when Demand went on a rampage. I cleaned her room four times today she cleaned it the fourth. She's into emptying entire rolls of toilet paper this week and eating her toothpaste and sneaking candy when she knows Mommy is occupied.
I have been fill with fury.
Happy turns one on Saturday so after dinner we made a trip to ToysRus to buy his gifts. (I also didn't want the kids destroying the house just yet.) I was sneaking a peek at my brother-in-law's coupons on Sunday and noticed that ToysRus was having a sale that if you bought one toy for $25+ you got on for up to $25 free. SOLD! We bought Happy a lawnmower and a tool bench toy. We let Demand pick a gift for him and she picked a talking Smurf(on clearance). I thought it was ridiculous but he seemed interested when she showed it to him and he does like talking toys. So we spent a total of $37 on gifts and his party is going to be pretty inexpensive as well. Demand and I cut out a number snowflakes for decorations and I had some blue streamers from some fourth of July years ago, I bought all the supplies at the Dollar Tree (love that store) and I'm making the cakes. I still have to decide on food but it will be simple and mostly likely all the ingredients will come from Aldi. I'm pretty proud of myself for throwing a budget party especially since I tend to go big for birthdays but I think this one will be pretty cute. And as long as there's food Happy will be....happy.
Yesterday I mentioned getting an unfortunate letter from our insurance company. Well I apparently missed last months payment so we can have it reinstated without lapse in coverage, however we have to pay three months at once (last month, this month and next month) all at once which equals around $1,800. (Deep breath) Good thing I know someone in a high place. I'm starting to understand why the Jews were hoping the Messiah would actually be a wealthy king.
So tomorrow is Bible study (oops, might want to start that.) and Friday I will work on the food and cakes for Happy's party. I should work on Bible Study now or at least work on that 485 page book I need to have read by next week.
