Before I post the first ever Sloth family video I thought I would tell a cute story about Happy. Mr. Sloth surprised me and got a flip camera using credit card points. Since money has been really tight I definitely didn't think we'd be getting the camera in time for Happy's birthday. Anyway if I've told it before just play along.
The last few weeks when I put Happy in his crib for the night I stay in the room (closet) for a while just to keep him company. It's really cut back on crying and he's even starting to like his crib a bit. So our usual nighttime routine is nursing for a bit and then I turn off all the lights but open the bedroom curtains and hold him and sing to him in front of the window sometimes he even falls asleep this way. After I sing a few songs we say our prayers then I lay him in the crib, give him his glow worm and cover him with his blanket. At this point if he's calm I just rub his leg or belly while he plays with his glow worm and at some point when I feel it might be safe I say good night bless his head and sneak out of the room. But it doesn't always work a lot of times he just starts screaming the second I leave the room.
So about a week ago we were in the middle of the routine. He was laying in his crib playing with his glow worm when he stood up. Usually that means "I would not like to sleep yet please pick me up." Well he gave me a hug and then laid back down and closed his eyes. "That was cute I thought", but then I looked down to see him open his eyes and look at me confused. So he got up again, gave me a hug and laid back down. Finally it dawned on me that he was telling me goodnight. So the third time he did it, after he laid down I said good night blessed his head and left. I never heard a peep. So that's his thing now. It's fantastic! Not only is it ridiculously cute but I now know when it is safe to leave the room.
Ok, now for the video.
Demand got a chance to ice skate for the first time at her Homeschooling Valentine's Party. Happy was ill that day so there was no chance I was going to be able to go on the ice with her. The twelve year old girl of a friend of mine volunteered to help Helen. The girl was honestly the nicest person I've ever met. She was excited to help her, explained her ice skates to her, offered to help her put them on, so nice! The video starts about a minute in as I had to run and grab my camera after I helped her onto the ice.
Enjoy!
