To fill you in, the rest of my birthday was fabulous. Exhausting, but fabulous. I had surf and turf for dinner and Mr. Sloth just had steak, it was the rarest steak I had ever seen. He couldn't even eat the last bite or two. After dinner we headed home and I put Demand down to bed. Between being sick and having numerous babysitters last week we decided to make it a little easier that way besides it gave me a chance to change into some warmer clothes. Then Mr. Sloth and I were out to our favorite watering hole. I celebrated getting older by calling it a nice at 11:30pm (very early for us) and topped it all off with a hang over.
Nope, didn't drink too much, just got a hang over. I'm learning that I'm just getting older and sweeter mixed drinks (or more than one glass of red wine) just give me a headache the next day.
None the less, it was my Saturday morning off and I had plans. I met up with some friends for garage saleing in a more affluent neighborhood. Actually, it was the most bizzare neighborhood I've ever seen. Think really rich hippies, and not just former hippies...hippies. Either way, they have great garage sales. One of my exciting finds was a play dough table that included storage for $1. I had been looking for a way to store Demand's play dough and this stores everything, including her rolling pin and a bunch of cookie cutters, with room to spare too! Plus she has a place other than the kitchen floor to work on. Fantastic deal.
My greatest find was a LeapFrop Learning System with 7 books (but only one cartridge). Guess what I paid. Nope. $0.50. FIFTY CENTS. It was worth about $75. Score!!!!
So now I'm hunting for matching cartridges or even just buying more book sets. Either way, ONE works and the others are still good books. So proud. I'm telling everyone, just like I'm telling everyone how I'm related to Grace Kelly. It's just something I think people need to know.
We're closer to finding out what is wrong with Demand. She may have strep throat and I may have caught it. If this is strep, it's not that bad, but we're still waiting on her lab work from the doctors.
Lastly, Mr. Sloth and I are on the verge of throwing our TV out the window. Not that we don't like TV we do. It's Demand. It's constantly "Dora?" "Blue?" "Tommy?/Choo-choo?" "George?". AHHHHHHHH!
So sick of it. So today I refused to turn it on. Most of the time if I just declare it "Music Time" she gets excited but this morning she broke down. That was it, I was not about to let her cry over TV. New rule, NO CRYING OVER TV OR IT'S TIME OUT. She did great the rest of the day. I let her watch Dora during lunch when I just needed a break and she didn't let out a peep or protest when I changed it to Colbert after her show was done. (The girl knows good conservative comedy when she hears it)
All that use of imagination must have worked because she's been asleep for 2 1/2 hours. I could learn to like this.
